Great information, I've learned a few things. Lot of gray areas in the personal defense world about using lethal weapons. It's about the same all around, don't pull it unless you have to use it. I'm planning on carrying a small revolver after I get my conceal permit. I've been informed that cocking the hammer on a revolver is considered lethal intent in court. Their making revolvers without hammers because of people getting charged with intent to kill because they cocked the hammer back, yet the situation ended up in a court battle and the victim gets screwed anyway. It's the same all around. Don't pull it unless you have to use it.

If someone is trying to end my life I will not feel bad about taking theirs. At that point they are a threat that needs to be neutralized. Unless you'd rather die.

In Czech Republic, where I live they removed cold weapons(any type of blades) from the law, you can carry anything you want, double edged blades, shurikens, katanas, whatever. But for guns you need special permission and it's illegal to carry explosives and, for a good laugh, silencers. Even without gun, carrying silencer by itself is strictly forbidden and can get you in jail.

Everyone should know that your hands are your FIRST defensive tool at close distance, even if you're carrying a firearm.

If you use a gun in self defense, a lawyer is attached to the bullets you use, the same apply's to knives, if you use it you will need an attorney.

    Good points.

Re: the karambit, just my personal preference but the only folding karambit I'll carry is one with the Emerson Wave feature, as it will deploy in the preferred reverse grip when you draw. Otherwise you have to open and turn the knife over in your hand to use it to its full potential, and doing so under duress would be infeasible. Karambits can of course be used in the forward grip, but you lose the joint manipulation and trapping capability the reverse grip affords.

I agree that the length of the blade really doesn't matter. A 3" blade is as lethal as an 8" blade. Most vital targets (arteries, nerves, brain stem, heart) can be reached with a short blade, so carrying a Bowie for an EDC is overkill unless you're camping.

I do have a question about a statement you made though. You see a guy open carrying a firearm – how can you tell how well- or ill-trained he is by looking at him? It seems an irrational fear to me, though I've carried nearly all my adult life (and have yet to shoot anyone outside of combat).

    Anyway, I enjoyed your video.

first u talk about the morality, but then u dont even touch on the subject of using the knife for frightening effect and even discourage showing the knife before you stab that loc. idk man to me it seems better to scare off attackers if you're worried about morality. i mean even the dumbest crimnel knows there's no winners in knife fights..
