Private Care Through the VA May Be Paused Because of COVID-19

VA may deny vetrerans private care

Once again a program created to help veterans may be in trouble. The VA currently provides care for about nine million veterans, but sometimes it’s necessary for veterans to seek outside care.

The reason is that the VA can’t provide the care, or it can’t provide the care in a timely manner. There’s also the issue of travel as about only 25 percent of veterans live within 40 miles of a VA facility.

I think it’s sad that veterans may be denied care, especially during this crisis. Hopefully, this issue will be cleared up soon, and the VA can fix this program so that veterans can get the care they need.

Veterans not already enrolled in the program may be blocked from getting outside care for 90 days. Confusion surrounds VA’s community care offerings after talk of program pause
